Hello, from the other side

Jambo my lovelies!

Yes, I am still alive. No, I did not forget you, life just happened. For the rest of the apology, Adele sings it way better than I could so please see Hello, from the other side… <waves hand>  😀 Since the Pope is now in Kenya, which is apparently ‘War-Torn Africa’ <major side eye at Fox>, it got me thinking about when I was back home, dreaming of my future.

So before I left, I had started a bible reading plan which is basically a timetable for reading the entire bible in a couple of months. I am now in 1 Kings and I have learnt soo much already. God is super merciful beyond reason and we are self-absorbed idiots. As I’m reading about all that God kept doing for the Israelites and they still didn’t appreciate it but kept going back to their old ways, and He still let them live, I just kept thinking, if it was me, I would have kept sending floods and wiping them out over and over, just like in the Matrix. Don’t judge me, I’m sure you thought of it as well 😉 .

And then I realized, I am just like them. Considering we had a deal about my travel here, there are some aspects that I am yet to live up to on my end. And He hasn’t taken me back, I am still here. His love is still there, He still forgives me when I have the good sense to say that I’m sorry and He is always there. A little hard to reach sometimes, but He is still here. And one of the passages that inspired me most is 1 Kings 19:11-13.

11 The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”

Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.

Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

Sometimes we call out to God and expect to get an Adele song, as if He will be like ‘Hello, it’s me….’ Though if He did, that would be super cool. Well, sometimes, He answers but we don’t get to hear it because we are too wrapped up in our expectations. Sometimes, we are oblivious to what His plans are for us and we give up on His word. Great news is we still have time to turn back to Him. It’s a choice you have to make everyday. When you take the time to reflect, and wonder what went wrong and when it happened, it will probably have began around the time you stopped choosing His will and began following your own path.

Hello, can you still hear Him?
